Leslie moved to Mexico. The girl loaded her jeep with my pots and linens, with her computer, her boots, a pouch of Clinique and not much else. She drove south for 18 hours, crossing the border at Laredo, passing through deserts and over mountain ranges, till she came to Guanajuato, Mexico's heart, and then she stopped. She had friends there, but still. She was young.

I make the same drive twice a year now, round trip...... in a less conspicuous car.....since moving to Mexico myself some time back. It always takes a bit of courage, that drive. What was it like for her? Brave traveler, Leslie. Curious child of mine.
Now, there is Nina, Leslie's curious child. She's just back from Argentina and that gypsy did love it. She can't get very far without a driver's license though, and there is that Panama Canal thing. ~ Carolyn in Mexico
